Production Planner & Scheduler (Food/FMCG)

Salary: Circa £30,000 + Benefits

The Production Planner & Scheduler coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules. Further duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors and production managers to determine progress of work and completion dates; inventory levels including materials at risk, and solving production and purchasing problems the role also requires working closely with the NPD team and Technical teams to ensure a smooth changeover of raw materials in recipes.

Accountabilities

  • Ensure daily production requirements are achieved to meet customer expectation.
  • Analyse and prepare documents needed for production.
  • Data analysis and decision making to support raw material supply and finished goods demand.
  • Provides support for purchasing and ensure we are purchasing the most efficient material from suppliers keeping costs down
  • Creates production schedule and prioritises job-orders for production optimisation.
  • Maintains the production schedule and other reports as required.
  • Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectation.
  • Complete status reports for production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory.
  • Making sure planning and purchasing KPI’s are maintained and carry out trend analysis
  • Interacts with shop floor management on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies or additional information as requested from Manufacturing, Customer Service and accounting.
  • Escalate complex issues to manager and help find resolution.
  • Carry out any reasonable request as requested by any member of management within the reasonable scope of the role

Essential Attributes:

  • Exceptional organisational & numerical skills

  • Able to use MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to demonstrate initiative, decision making and self-motivation
  • Used to working within a fast moving pressurised environment
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility within your role

Desirable Attributes:

  • A minimum of one year of experience working with an MRP/ERP system, working in a manufacturing environment (preferably food).
  • Experience of using planning and scheduling software e.g. Preactor or Orchestrate
  • Experience of working in a planning role or similar
  • Intermediate or higher skill level in Excel
  • Used to working to key performance indicators
  • Experience of producing electronic reports
  • Experience of lean manufacturing and root cause analysis

The successful applicant will be enrolled onto a 12 month development programme designed to give the tools required to coach others to excellence. This will in turn give you a fantastic opportunity to develop your own career path to a more senior management role within this supportive and growing organisation.

This is planned to be a day’s based role (37.5 hours per week), Monday to Friday (9am to 5.30pm) however due to the business criticality of the role you will be expected to have a flexible attitude to getting the required work completed to suit the business’s priorities.
